Its role is to advocate the international use of Esperanto and also to use Esperanto as a vehicle for the dissemination of Scottish culture.

The Scottish Esperanto Association organises courses, a study weekends, social events and an annual congress.

Its official organ is Esperanto en Skotlando which has been appearing since 1947.
